Scientists from Yale and Purdue Universities stumbled on the discovery while examining molecules from ancient algae found in deep-sea core samples.

Matthew Huber, professor of earth and atmospheric sciences at Purdue, said roughly a 40 percent decrease in CO2 occurred prior to and during the rapid formation of a mile-thick ice sheet over the Antarctic approximately 34 million years ago.

"We went from a warm world without ice to a cooler world with an ice sheet overnight, in geologic terms, because of fluctuations in carbon dioxide levels," he added, the Science journal reported.

Three new clips have been released from Up in the Air director Jason Reitman’s new pic Young Adult. Written by Diablo Cody (Juno), the film centers on an alcoholic young adult novelist who ventures back to her hometown in order to pursue her now-married high school boyfriend. Charlize Theron is already turning heads for her nasty performance, and the more I see of the film the more excited I am to see it. Reitman’s a fantastic storyteller and Cody’s script is said to be very, very dark.

Founders Fund is well-known as one of the first investors in Facebook, Spotify, and many other high-profile companies.

And as the name would suggests, Founders Fund describes its philosophy to ventures as "founder-supportive," which translates to giving entrepreneurs space to develop their products and/or services without the intrusion of what Founders Fund representative Tobey Proskey calls, "adult supervision."

Pete Naughton previews a new documentary on the internet's biggest social network, in which the BBC's Emily Maitlis meets 27 year-old Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
http://img.facebooknoticias.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Mark-Zuckerberg.jpg

it feels strange to call Mark Zuckerberg, the doe-eyed 27-year-old CEO and co-creator of Facebook, a business magnate – the phrase evokes pictures of hard-bitten, rough-handed men such as Henry Ford. But a magnate he is, with a net worth estimated at $17.5 billion (£11.2 billion) and a sphere of influence that currently extends to the 800-million-and-counting users of his social network.

In this wide-ranging, intelligently produced profile of Zuckerberg, Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis travels to S ... Read more »
