U.S. secretly backed Syrian opposition groups, cables released by WikiLeaks show

The State Department has secretly financed Syrian political opposition groups and related projects, including a satellite TV channel that beams anti-government programming into the country, according to previously undisclosed diplomatic cables.

Hacker Famous Geohot donates $10,000 to the EFF

Famed PS3 hacker George Hotz has donated a cool $10,000 to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) after settling his legal issues with Sony.

"This money goes to the EFF in hopes that America can one day again be a shining example of freedom, free of the DMCA and ACTA, and that private interest will never trump the ideas laid out in the constitution of privacy, ownership, and free speech," Gehot explained in an official blog post.

Windows 8 Build Final , First Beta Scheduled for this Summer

According to the sources Microsoft’s Windows 8 second Milestone build has been finalized, with Milestone 3 the next to be worked on. After that stage it’s only a matter of time before we see a beta of Windows 8 in testing.

Anonymous hacker claims he broke into wind turbine systems

Claiming revenge for an "illegitimate firing," someone has posted screenshots and other data, apparently showing that he was able to break a 200 megawat wind turbine system owned by NextEra Energy Resources, a subsidiary of Florida Power & Light.

The data was posted to the Full Disclossure security mailing list Saturday anonymously, by someone using the name "Bgr R." In the post, he (or she) wrote, "Here comes my revenge for illegitimate firing from Florida Power & Light Company... ain't nothing you can do with it, since your electricity is turned off !!!"
